Why is user identification useful?
Identifying customers in your recordings can help you solve your problems to a great degree, and it could even help prevent customers from leaving your website. If you can find their recordings, you’ll see exactly what motivated their complaint or drove them to abandon their efforts. You’ll be able to help your customers better — and you might even impress them by proactively fixing bugs or improving processes without them even asking you to!
How to identify users in the recordings
Use our API to connect Smartlook to your database of registered customers. When a registered customer comes to your website and logs in, Smartlook will be able to check the information with the customer database and identify who the customer is. You will also be able to view customer details such as their name and email or any other data you may find convenient.
Recording users from the EU? Mind the GDPR!
If you’re recording visitors from the EU, please pay attention to GDPR rules — they affect the recording of personal data of EU visitors. Learn more about which steps to take in order to be GDPR compliant here. You’ll also need to use a special API, which can be found here.
Finding recordings of identified users
You can easily find the recordings of each customer by filtering them — for example, by email. You can even take account management to the next level by watching what your big customers have been doing so you can better engage with them!
