The ''Events'' and the "Funnels" menu offers an option to turn on anomalies monitoring, just select an event or funnel, click the anomalies icon in the top right and a menu opens where you can toggle this feature. This is set separately for every event and every funnel, and event ''Errors'' have this feature turned on by default.

Settings

You can choose to detect and monitor either surges or drops, or both of them for the selected event/funnel. Based on the alert type you set up - you will get reports, if an anomaly occurs. Available alert types slightly differ for events and funnels.

Event anomalies

Automatic detection
- the anomaly will be determined by comparing changes between the previous day with the 7 previous days average, in terms of the ratio of total event occurrences to daily visitors. If the difference fits into the .95 confidence percentile (approximately: mean +/- 2* standard deviations) then a warning email will be sent to your address.

Anomaly threshold
- you can set up an event occurrence threshold and all anomalies will be detected if they are outside the predefined threshold value.

Relative percentage change
- anomalies will be detected if the event occurrence change is outside the predefined relative percentage threshold.

Funnels anomalies

Anomaly threshold
- you can set up a conversion rate threshold and all anomalies will be detected if they are outside the predefined threshold value.

Relative percentage change
- anomalies will be detected if the conversion rate change is outside the predefined relative percentage threshold.

Anomaly email

If you choose to be notified about anomalies via email, you'll receive an automated system email detailing that the occurrence of an event in your account has changed.

Below is an example of an anomaly email for an ''Errors'' event set up with automatic detection for surges:
